The Local Church Brings Me Closer to God, Anonymous

For many people, including some believers, Christian means “churchgoer”. As a child growing up in the local church, I took attending church meetings every Sunday for granted. It was just like a “duty” I had to do because I was a Christian. I had no enjoyment in my duty.

Five years ago I moved to Pittsburgh for advanced study. As usual on Sundays I went to the local church meeting hall to do my duty. But this time something happened: I gradually became eager to go to meetings with believers. I had enjoyment and fullness in meeting. I feel I've grown up in the spirit. It has not happened overnight. I know God was bringing me closer to Him little by little through believers' love, patience, care, and support. This is my experience in the local church. The local church helps me know God who is beyond doctrines and knowledge. God becomes real to me.

After five years in the church in Pittsburgh, I realize that God is living and dwelling in me. I have more faith in God, which cannot be removed from me. Praise the Lord.
